The New England Patriots will be without Romeo Doubs for a minimum of four games.
The organization placed the veteran wide receiver on injured reserve amid a series of transactions announced Monday afternoon.
Doubs, 26, sustained a shoulder injury while catching a 42-yard touchdown in the first quarter of Sunday’s 26-19 AFC East win at Gillette Stadium and was downgraded from questionable to out. The March signing stands with 14 receptions for 261 yards and three visits to the end zone this fall for an active depth chart that moves forward with A.J. Brown, DeMario Douglas, Efton Chism III and Kyle Williams. He has handled 246 offensive snaps through six games, including a pair of starts, and will not be eligible for a return until late November.
Entering the NFL in the fourth round of the 2022 draft at No. 132 overall out of Nevada, Doubs spent the previous four campaigns with the Green Bay Packers. The 6-foot-2, 210-pound wideout’s career spans 216 catches for 2,685 yards and 24 touchdowns through 65 appearances.
Taking the open spot on the 53-man roster in Foxborough, safety Elliott Davison has been promoted from the practice squad after twice serving as a standard elevation for matchups against the Las Vegas Raiders and New York Jets.
Davison, 24, was scheduled to revert on Monday. The 6-foot, 190-pound safety has recorded two tackles and one pass deflection through his consecutive call-ups while playing 10 snaps on defense and 37 snaps on special teams. Signed to the Patriots’ practice squad in September before being released and re-signed, Davison originally entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent out in 2025. The former UTSA defensive back spent the duration of his rookie year on the practice squad of the New Orleans Saints.
New England also officially signed wide receiver Ryan Miller, center Jacob Rizy and guard Andrew Rupcich to the practice squad on Monday. The club released cornerback D’Shawn Jamison to make room among the 17-man group.
Miller, 26, went undrafted out of Furman in 2023. The 6-foot-2, 217-pound wideout spent three seasons between the 53-man roster and practice squad of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers before being claimed off waivers by the New York Giants last December. Awarded to the Miami Dolphins amid training camp and let go last week, Miller has played in 30 NFL games, including six starts, while totaling 17 receptions for 254 yards and four touchdowns. He scored his most recent TD in September from 77 yards away.
Rizy, 24, began 2026 on New England’s practice squad after arriving as part of the organization’s undrafted class in May. The 6-foot-5, 306-pound rookie free agent played 155 snaps at center through three preseason games and was waived ahead of the league’s 53-man roster deadline. A former second-team and first-team All-Ivy League selection, Rizy spent three years at Harvard and two years at Florida State. The 27-game starter logged time at center, left guard, right guard and right tackle during his collegiate run.
Rupcich, 27, had been waived by the Patriots with an injury settlement in August after reverting to injured reserve. The 6-foot-6, 325-pound Culver-Stockton product now circles back to an offensive line that saw three starters in Ben Brown, Alijah Vera-Tucker and Morgan Moses ruled out on Sunday. Rupcich first joined New England’s practice squad last September and was retained on a futures contract in February. He entered the NFL with the Tennessee Titans as an undrafted free agent in 2022 and appeared in 12 games while in the AFC South, including a pair of starts.
Jamison, 27, worked out and joined the Patriots’ practice squad last week before becoming a corresponding move amid the attrition. The 5-foot-9, 185-pound cornerback went undrafted out of Texas in 2023 and made his initial NFL stops with the San Francisco 49ers, Carolina Panthers and Pittsburgh Steelers. He spent the first month of the 2026 season on the practice squad of the Arizona Cardinals. Jamison has appeared in 18 games while seeing 107 snaps on defense and 166 snaps on special teams. His career includes 10 tackles, one pass deflection and one start.
The Chicago Bears host head coach Mike Vrabel’s 4-2 team at Soldier Field on Thursday. Kickoff is set for 8:15 p.m. ET.
