Connecticut early voting underway with new ballot counting process

Early voting is officially underway in Connecticut ahead of the Nov. 3 election.

Voters can cast their ballots early starting Monday through Nov. 1.

Early voting locations will generally be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., with extended hours from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Oct. 27 and Oct. 29.

There is also a change to the early voting process this year. Instead of placing their ballots in sealed envelopes to be counted later, voters will now insert them directly into tabulators.

U.S. Sen. Chris Murphy was among those casting their ballots on the first day of early voting at Hartford City Hall.

“It’s never been easier to vote in Connecticut than it is this year,” Murphy said. “There is no excuse not to vote, especially when the stakes are this high.”

Voters can find their designated early voting location through the Secretary of the State’s Office or by visiting MyVote.ct.gov.

Connecticut also offers same-day voter registration at designated locations for eligible residents who are not already registered.

Early voting ends Nov. 1, two days before Election Day on Tuesday, Nov. 3.
