Friday storms with damaging winds usher in colder air for the weekend

Early morning Friday showers bring…evening storms?

That’s exactly what’s in the forecast for the tri-state area.

Friday jumps back into the mid-70s, which is great, but we’ll have two rounds of rain, which is not so great. Showers are expected for the morning commute, then there are evening storms.

When it comes to the storms, the damaging winds are the main concern, especially west of New York City, with a low tornado threat farther southwest into eastern Pennsylvania and near the Delaware Water Gap. Large hail and downpours are also possible.

Once they’re gone, the cold air comes rushing in. Saturday is windy with temperatures stuck in the low 50s.

Sunday is sunny, cold and crisp, then we’re back into the 60s with dry weather next week.
