Fort Worth police are searching for a man accused of shooting a security guard after being confronted in a parking garage near the Crescent Hotel on Camp Bowie Boulevard.
Surveillance video recorded around 2:45 a.m. shows a man walking through the parking garage. Police said he was trying to open car doors when a security guard approached him and told him to leave.
“He was told, ‘ You need to leave, you need to leave the premises,” Officer Daniel Segura with the Fort Worth Police Department said.
Police said the man agreed and began walking out of the garage. As he was leaving through the east entrance, investigators said he pulled out a handgun and began shooting at security guards.
One guard was struck in the arm.
Police said the suspect then ran from the garage and remains at large.
The Crescent Hotel, where police responded, praised its security team in a statement, saying, “We are enormously proud of how our security team handled this situation.”
The hotel said the wounded guard “is on the way to a full and speedy recovery.”
Police said they want to identify and arrest the suspect as soon as possible because of the danger they believe he poses.
“His actions by pulling a gun, not only displaying it, pointed it, but actually he shot and hit someone, that is a very dangerous [person] that we don’t want to be out in the street,” Segura said.
A witness described the suspect as a “skinny Hispanic male” with “loopy or long hair,” according to police.
Investigators believe someone knows who the suspect is and are asking that person to come forward.
