Police identify 3 victims killed in Wilmington crash, including mother of 2

Police identified three people who were killed when a drunk driver struck another vehicle in Wilmington, Delaware, on Sunday morning, officials said.

On Monday, police identified the three victims as 48-year-old Curtis Jackson, 35-year-old Caroline Shockley, and 41-year-old Brandon Hill.

Shockley’s sister, Barbara Zebrook, said she was a mother of two children, including a two-month-old.

She also had a question for Resto, “I just want to say, do you know how many lives you have destroyed?”

The cousin of Hill spoke with NBC10 as well, saying, “He was just a great guy. He could just brighten up your day. I miss him.”

Police said the deadly crash occurred at about 4:18 a.m. on Saturday when a Jeep driven by 30-year-old Nicholas Resto struck a Ford Focus stopped on 9th and Walnut streets in Wilmington, Delaware.

Resto was traveling at such a high rate of speed that the Ford went all the way down to the intersection of 10th and Walnut all the way down the block, where the Ford came to a stop and caught fire.

Officials said Resto was taken into custody and hospitalized in stable condition following the crash.

He has since been charged with manslaughter, DUI and related offenses, police said.

According to court documents, Resto admitted to police that he was drinking at a Newark bar before the crash and said that he shouldn’t have been drinking.

“I don’t know, how do you move on from something like this?” Zebrook asked. “You just have to keep her legacy alive, and just make sure that they know they were loved. That their mother loved them, that she didn’t plan to leave them.”

Resto has been arraigned and was in custody of the Delaware Department of Correction under $105,000 cash bail as of Monday morning, officials said.

An investigation into this incident, officials said, is still underway.
