3 hurt, including pedestrian, in Northeast Philly crash, police say

Police say the driver and passenger in a vehicle have been hospitalized following a crash Saturday that also injured a woman walking on the sidewalk along Bustleton Avenue on Saturday.

According to police, the crash occurred when a 72-year-old man behind the wheel of a 2013 Nissan Pathfinder headed northbound along the 7600 block of Bustleton Avenue, at about 5 p.m. on Saturday, suffered an unspecified medical episode.

At that time, officials said, the driver veered into southbound lanes and struck a parked, unoccupied 2016 Audi, before jumping the curb and striking a 60-year-old woman walking along the sidewalk.

Following the crash, officials said, the driver was hospitalized in critical condition after suffering several bone fractures and a 68-year-old woman, who was riding as a passenger in the vehicle, was hospitalized in critical condition after suffering a head injury.

The woman who was struck while walking on the sidewalk, police said, sustained a facial laceration in the crash.

An investigation into the crash, officials said, is ongoing.
