Storm Team4 Forecast: Hot, humid Monday on tap with scattered evening storms

4 things to know about the weather:

  1. Extra humid today
  2. Some storms this evening
  3. Sunny tomorrow, Wednesday
  4. Rain chances back on Thursday

An extra humid start to the week will lead to more chances for some rain and thunderstorms by Monday evening.

There are still a few lingering showers across the area Monday morning, but these should be gone soon enough, making way for enough sunshine to boost temperatures back into the low-90s for most of the D.C. metro area.

Watch for scattered storms after 5 p.m.

A bubble of high pressure will arrive later Monday and keep us dry for Tuesday and Wednesday before more rain chances arrive toward the end of the week.

Extremely humid conditions will last into Tuesday morning before northwest winds help drive humidity levels down a bit for Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday.

D.C. hasn’t been below 70° yet this month and may finally be able to drop into the 60s, if ever so briefly, at sunrise on Wednesday morning.

Highs on both Tuesday and Wednesday will be close to 90°.

The approach of a cold front on Thursday will lead to much thicker cloud cover and the return of rain chances. There’s still plenty of uncertainty on the timing of the rain, but all of our forecast models bring back rain at some point Thursday.

Once these rain chances arrive, they will be with us for several days. Rain chances are above 50% for Thursday afternoon, Friday and Saturday. Drier weather will return on Sunday, and next week looks to be cooler and less humid than this one.
