Interesting article. There are parts I agree with and also parts I disagree with.
Until we get our OL and DL solidified, there are no other priorities. You can't develop a QB until you can protect him. You can't establish a defense until you can pressure the QB. The trenches are directly involved on every single snap. That's why they command so much money and draft capital.
Starting OT's make between $20-30 million/yr. Are we going to pay $50 million/yr combined to Fautanu + Dylan Cook? If not, we better get a rookie contract going at OT. Starting IOL's make between $12-20 million/yr. Frazier and McCormick are going to want extensions after this season. Are we going to pay both of them market rate, plus Fautanu and Cook? Who is even our starter at LG?
What about DL? Harmon is fine. Black is fine. That's great. But I don't think we extend Benton unless he comes really cheap. Heyward might be done after this year. That leaves a huge gap at DL starting next year. Maybe we wait a year? But it sure would be nice to draft a DT this year who can develop into a starter by year 2.
